Wwe Divas List

Wwe Divas List Biography
The WWE Divas Championship is a professional wrestling women's championship owned by the WWE promotion. The creation of the championship was announced on June 6, 2008 by SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero as a counterpart to the Raw brand's WWE Women's Championship. The word "Diva" in the championship's name refers to the pseudonym WWE Diva, which WWE uses to refer to its female wrestlers. On April 13, 2009, the title was moved from the SmackDown brand to the Raw brand as a result of then-Divas Champion Maryse being drafted in the 2009 WWE Draft.[1] On September 19, 2010 at the Night of Champions pay-per-view event, self-professed co-Women's Champion Michelle McCool defeated WWE Divas Champion Melina, retiring the Women's Championship and unifying it with the Divas Championship.[2] The title is now accessible to both WWE brands and the champion can appear on both shows.
The championship is generally contested in professional wrestling matches, in which participants execute scripted finishes rather than contend in direct competition. The inaugural champion was Michelle McCool, who defeated Natalya on July 20, 2008 at WWE's The Great American Bash.[3] Maryse, Melina, Michelle McCool and Eve hold the record for most reigns, with two. At 216 days, Maryse's first reign is the longest in the championship's history. Jillian holds the record for shortest reign in the title's history at less than a day. The current champion is Layla who is in her first reign with the Divas Championship. Overall, there have been 17 reigns shared between 13 divas.
